For a safe and stress-free driving experience, we provide three insurance plans you can choose from when renting a vehicle.
You can change your plan on the rental day.

Standard Plan


Basic liability insurance

  • No vehicle coverage
  • Customer pays all repair costs if damage occurs
  • Third-party deductible : ¥200,000

Middle Plan


Covers normal vehicle accidents

  • Max customer liability : ¥600,000
  • Third-party deductible : ¥200,000

Premium Plan


Covers rollover & total loss

  • Max customer liability :

    ¥30,000

    No

Safety Equipment

  • 4WD available
  • ABS and airbags standard on all vans
  • Winter tires equipped during winter season for safe snow driving

Cases Not Covered by Insurance

Insurance will NOT apply in the following situations:

  • Accidents caused by traffic violations
  • Driving under the influence / reckless driving
  • Unauthorized / unregistered drivers
  • Accidents not reported to the police and to us
  • Driving in prohibited areas (off-road / beach / riverbed / deep snow)
  • Damage caused by natural disasters
  • When accident details cannot be verified
  • (no dashcam footage, corrupted data, inconsistent reports)
  • Violation of the rental agreement (Terms & Conditions)
  • Any other case judged as non-covered by the insurance company

Cases Where Fees Are Charged (Not Accident Related)

  • Stuck recovery (snow / mud / sand)

  • Towing service
    → ¥800 per km
  • Wrong fuel (misfueling)
    → Actual cost
  • Tire puncture / burst

Important Notice

  • Fuel type differs by vehicle (diesel or gasoline)
  • In case of accident, contact Police and NINJA CAMPER VANS immediately

Do I require an international driving license?

Yes, you can rent if you fulfill one of the following conditions!

  1. Those who have a Japanese driver’s license
  2. Those who have a U.S. military personal vehicle operator’s permit + driver’s license from U.S. + ID
  3. Those who have an International driver’s license based on the Geneva Convention (1949) (within the validity period) + driver’s license of their own country + passport
    ※ Driver’s license and international driver’s license must be issued in the same country.
  4. Those who have a Foreign driver’s license (limited to Taiwan, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium,Monaco)+Official Japanese translation + Passport
    ※ Only translations issued by the embassy or consulate of the country of the foreign driver’s license in Japan or the Japan Automobile Federation are valid.

Upon fulfillment of any of the above,
-Credit card holder
-We rent to those who understand and agree to the precautions on our website, the rental agreement, and the rental agreement.

Please do not forget to bring both your original driver’s license and international driving permit with you. (A copy or data of either are not valid for you to drive in Japan.)

Is there a cancellation policy?

There is a cancellation fee depending on the cancellation period.
A cancellation fee will be charged from 2 weeks prior to the reservation date, but no cancellation fee will be charged before that date.

※Cancellations made outside the cancellation fee period are eligible for a full refund.
Please note that the credit card processing fee (3.6%) is non-refundable.
※Cancellation made after 6:00 p.m. will be treated as cancellation for the following day.
※No cancellation fee will be charged if there is a weather warning for the day.

What are the pick-up & drop-off times?

All pick-up are between 10:00am to 4:00pm and all drop-off are between 9:00am to 3:00pm.

What options do I have with kilometers?

You know what – it is for free.
All Ninja Camper Vans come with free kilometer packages, so no charge will ever apply!

Do I require a valid credit card?

Yes, a credit card is required for all rentals.

Please note that debit cards are not accepted.

What is ETC card?

ETC (Electronic Toll Collection)
ETC is a system used to automatically record expressway tolls.

Ninja Camper Vans offers ETC cards for rent at a low rate of ¥500 per card.
When you return the card, you will be asked to confirm and pay the toll charges incurred using the ETC system.
By using an ETC card, you may be eligible for toll discounts depending on the time of day and the route you take.

ETC rental fee:

¥500 per day

Deposit:

¥5,000 per day (maximum ¥50,000)

※Toll charges will be settled based on the deposit.
Any shortfall will be paid upon vehicle return, and any remaining balance will be refunded.
※For rentals exceeding one month, toll charges and the deposit will be reviewed and settled on a monthly basis.

What should I do in case of accident?

In Case of Accident or Trouble.
Ensure your own safety and the safety of others first.
If anyone is injured, provide basic first aid where possible and contact emergency services immediately.

After the authorities have completed their procedures, please contact our office without delay.
Please take clear photos of the accident scene and any damage, and complete an accident report form.
All subsequent procedures, including insurance claims, damage assessment, and cost handling, will be carried out in accordance with the insurance plan you have selected.

Do you offer long-term rental discounts?

Yes, we do.
For rentals of 21 days or more, a discount of 15% will be automatically applied to the rate.
This discount cannot be combined with any other offers or promotions.
